Juncheng 'Jerry' Shang is only 17 years old, but his accomplishments are already causing a stir. Last March, the former World Number 1 junior became the first Chinese player to qualify for the main draw of a Masters 1000. The young left-hander has since confirmed his rise to prominence by winning his first Challenger in Lexington and climbing into the world's Top 200.

Jerry, who plays with the Pure Drive 98 and the RPM Hurricane, was introduced to tennis at the age of 6 by his parents, both of whom were top athletes.

Like his compatriot, Li Na, Jerry could become the champion that China is waiting for, and even if he considers this expectation as a little pressure, he admits that it is a great source of motivation to surpass himself every day.
