The 9th edition of the Babolat Cup hosted by Edgbaston Priory Club, Birmingham took place on the 24th and 25th September and was yet another exciting event. The tournament brought together 32 players who battled it out for a chance of a lifetime, weeklong trip, at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar in Mallorca, Spain.

The boys and girls draw consisted of the respective county champion’s and runners up from across the Babolat network, such as Sussex and Yorkshire. The event also offers two wildcard places to complete the 16-player draws. By including a consolation draw and play-offs, there was a lot of quality tennis on show.

The tournament saw some great competitive matches with Sussex’s Harrison Clowe and Coco Mole taking home the trophies. 2nd seed Harrison was taken to 3 sets in the first round before defeating the 4th seed on route to the final where he overcame 3rd seed Veer Tumber 4-2 4-0 in the boy’s final. 1st seed Coco played some outstanding tennis which saw her not drop a set all tournament with an emphatic 4-0 4-0 win over the 3rd seed before defeating unseeded Vivienne Thomas 4-2 4-0 in the final.

The tournament aims to provide the players with a unique experience by combining high level competitive tennis for an amazing prize with a more sociable environment. The Babolat Cup UK included a player’s party with entertainment, special guests, and the chance for the players to get their hands on the upcoming 2023 Pure Aero range. Coaches from Rafa Nadal’s Academy were in attendance on Finals Day and ran two training clinics with lucky members of the Edgbaston Priory Club, who were also able to demo the unreleased Aero Evo rackets.

It was a pleasure to have so many wonderful players take part in the event and we can’t wait for next year.
