Babolat will have a strong presence on the ATX Open, a new women’s tour-level tennis tournament in Austin, Texas, debuting on 27 February 2023.

Thanks to the latest deal signed, the French family-run company, which has been making strings since 1875, will manage the official stringing service for the tournament.
Babolat shoes will be worn by officials, ball kids, and tournament staff under a new deal signed by Babolat and Dropshot Tournament Series which owns the event.

“We’re pleased to be showcasing our oldest skill and one of our newest products at this exciting inaugural tournament,” said Eric Babolat, the company’s president. “Some of the greatest names in tennis have used our VS strings over the nearly 150-year history of modern-day tennis, and our shoes are the result of an innovative collaboration over the past 20 years between Babolat and the tire specialists Michelin to give perfect rubber-to-surface interaction. We wish the ATX Open every success and are delighted to be the event’s official stringer and official shoe.”

The ATX Open is one of four women’s-only tour-level tennis tournaments in the USA and is new to the Texas capital this year. It has already announced participation by the former US Open champion Sloane Stephens and last year’s Australian Open runner-up Danielle Collins.
